Hello, Allow me introduce myself....
my name is Maria Scuderi and I have been interested in and dabbled in all art forms yet have primarily been a documentarian since I can remember, writing in journals, taking photos, making videos. I started making hand cut and paste collages many years ago and still enjoy this medium yet have been experimenting with using my own photos, watercolor paintings and combining them with found and appropriated art images. I chose this piece to introduce you to my Process, content and medium because it is easy to see the different components that I used to assemble this photoshop collage. My Process begins by choosing a backdrop to act as a stage. Here I chose a photo I took in Florida of a historical spring. I then chose two of my paintings to decorate the inside walls and floor. The woman in Gold, was my first character and she is a scanned image of an old magazine cut out. Once I had her in place I knew what I wanted to create the mood and set the stage for the idea of "Longing" The image of the man was from a photo I took of him on vacation and he is a man I know intimately.
